Optometry Confederation of India (the “Company”) (“OCI”) is a professional regulatory body with the responsibility of establishing & maintaining high standards of optometry education & recognition of optometry qualifications in India. It registers optometrists in order to maintain quality, and provide equitable & accountable eye care services for the people of India and all the details about the Company can be viewed on the portal http://www.optometrycouncilofindia.org/eye-care-information/ (the “Website”).

The protection and security of the Customer’s Data (as defined below), Personal Information (as defined below) and Sensitive Personal Data (as defined below) is one of the Company’s top priorities. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) discloses the Company’s practices for Customer based services (“Services”) including the type of information being collected, method of such information collection, use of such Data, Personal Information and Sensitive Personal Data and sharing of such information with third parties.

By using the Services, the Customer agrees to accept the terms of this Privacy Policy. By accessing or using the Services you expressly consent to our collection, use, storage and disclosure of the Customer’s Data, Personal Information and Sensitive Personal Data in the manner described in this Privacy Policy.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy,

a) “Data” shall mean the education, current work details and other association membership details.

b) “Personal Information” shall mean any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact or locate the person, to whom such information pertains including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, and identification number; and

Personal Information and Sensitive Personal Data shall collectively be called “Information” for the purposes of this Privacy Policy.

Information that may be Collected

The Company shall collect and store any information that the Customer may provide to the Company to enable the Company perform the Services. To enable the Customer to avail the Services of the Company, the Company may need to collect the Customer’s Information. To enable certain aspects of data security and remote access restriction by the Customer, the Customer’s IP address may be captured. The IP address may be used to help trouble-shoot problems with connectivity and various technology including servers and related hardware. The Company may use IP addresses to help diagnose problems, to administer the Website, and to gather demographic information. The Company may also use IP addresses or other information, such as the Customer’s user information that Customer has shared on this Website or at any earlier occasion, to determine which pages on the Company’s sites are being visited and topics that may be of interest so the Company can provide the Customer with information about relevant services. Generally, the Company will aggregate such data only in an anonymous way and will not tie it to a particular individual unless he or she has given consent. When a Customer visits the Company’s Website, we recognize only the Customer’s domain name.

The Company will only gather information related to the Customer’s visit to the Website. The Company may also collect IP addresses (and other technical information such as browser type). This information is collected when the Customer connects to the Company so that the Company may identify the Customer’s session, deliver content based on the technical capabilities of the Customer’s browser, and for quality control purposes. The Customer’s IP address will not be used to identify such Customer unless the Customer has provided its prior consent.

Use of Information Collected

The Company owns all the Information collected while providing the Services. As applicable, the Information collected by the Company shall be used to contact Customer about the Company’s Services, monitor and improve the Services and to know the geographical locations of the Company’s Customers; and keep the Customer updated on any change in the Services.

The Company does not allow any unauthorized persons or organizations to use any Information that the Company may collect from the Customers while providing the Services. The Company uses reasonable technological, physical and other measures to keep the Customer’s Information protected from unauthorized access. Due to the nature of the Internet and related technology, the Company cannot guarantee the security of the Information and, as such, the Company expressly disclaims any such obligation.

The Company will use such Information only as described in this Privacy Policy and/or in the way we specify at the time of collection. The Company will not subsequently change the way Customer’s Information is used without the Customer’s consent, as required by applicable law. Some of the ways the Company may use the Information include, but are not limited to:

(a) to process the Customer’s Application Forms and accordingly provide the services;

(b) to tailor information about our Services to the Customer’s individual interests;

(c) to provide the ability to create personal profile areas and view protected content;

(d) in order to ensure and control the quality of the information and experience the Customer has during interactions with the Company, by educating the Company’s personnel to effectively manage Customer’s requirements;

(e) to provide the ability to contact the Customer, and provide the Customer with billing information, and to provide Customer feedback and support;

(f) to conduct questionnaires and surveys in order to provide better Services to Customers. The completion of any questionnaires is voluntary; and

(g) to meet contractual obligations.

Transfer and Sharing of Information

Any data and information that the Customer volunteers or that is otherwise collected on the Website may be sent electronically to a server in another country. The Company safeguards the Customer’s privacy interests around the world by ensuring that this Website adheres to the Company’s data protection principles described in this statement.

The Company may also share such Information with business partners, service vendors, authorized third-party agents or contractors in order to provide a requested service or transaction, including processing orders, processing credit card transactions, hosting websites, hosting event and seminar registration and providing customer support, or providing the Customer with information on products and services that may be of interest to the Customer.

Please note that, some Information will be passed on to necessary third parties, including but not limited to email, who will need to access to Information to enable them and the Company perform the Services. The Company only provides these third parties with the minimum amount of Information necessary to provide the services on the Company’s behalf, and the third parties are not permitted to use the Customer’s Information except for the limited purpose of completing the requested service or transaction.

The Company does not sell or rent the Customer’s Information to third parties for marketing purposes unless the Customer has granted the Company permission to do so.

The Company may respond to court orders, or legal process by disclosing the Customer’s Information and other related information, if necessary. The Company may also choose to establish or exercise its legal rights or defend against legal claims.

Circumstances may arise where, whether for strategic or other business reasons, the Company decides to sell, buy, merge or otherwise reorganize businesses in some countries. Such a transaction may involve, in accordance with applicable law, the disclosure of Information to prospective or actual purchasers, or the receipt of it from sellers. It is the Company’s practise to seek appropriate protection for information in these types of transactions.

The Company may collect and possibly share Information available to the Company in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person or as otherwise required by law.

While visiting the Website the Customer may be directed to content or functionality that is hosted by a third-party supplier, not on the Company’s Website. Most often, this is done to host special events, such as conferences or seminars. When information is collected on behalf of the Company exclusively, the appropriate entity's privacy statement will be referenced on the site and will govern how information is used. For other, non- Company’s sites, the site's owner's privacy policy will be referenced. The Company provides all Customers with the opportunity to opt-out of receiving non-essential communications such as promotional and marketing-related information regarding the Services. The Company may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time as the Company adds new services, as the Company improves its current offerings, and as technologies changes.
